US President Donald Trump announced that the leader of the Islamic State terrorist organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed as a result of a US military operation.
“Justice has been done for al-Baghdadi,” Trump announced in a special address. Trump's speech from the White House, among others, was broadcast by Reuters. An examination, the US president said, confirmed that it was al-Baghdadi who had been killed.
“He died like a dog. The world has become much safer, ”Trump said at the end of the address.
Trump thanked for the successful operation all those involved in it, primarily the US military, as well as Russia, Turkey, Iraq, Syria and the Kurds.
As Trump explained, answering questions from reporters after he made an appeal, Russia provided access for American aircraft to the airspace over the province of Idlib.
Trump stressed that none of the US military involved in the operation was injured.
