Last night, the United States "delivered to justice" international terrorist No. 1. This has been my priority since I became president. US Special Operations Forces carried out a dangerous and daring night raid. The targets were hit "with great finesse", the US military - incredible. We did not lose a single person during the operation.
Al-Baghdadi died like a dog, like a coward. "He tried to hide in a tunnel from which there was no way out, crying, wailing and screaming." Only Baghdadi and three children remained in the building, whom he took with him and led to certain death. When our dogs caught up with him in the tunnel, he blew up his vest, killing himself and three children. His body was disfigured by the explosion and debris from the tunnel, but DNA analysis determined that it was Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
His last moments were spent in fear and horror of the American military. After the operation was completed, we took a lot of documents from the building, including "very necessary things about the plans of the IS." His death showed that we can get anyone. All terrorist organizations are at our fingertips!
Losers worked for al-Baghdadi - there were frightened puppies among them, there were professional killers - but they were all losers, and he himself was a sick and vicious person. But he is no more.
This flawless operation would not have been possible without the help of certain countries and peoples. I want to thank Russia, Turkey, Iraq and Syria, as well as the Syrian Kurds, for their help during this dangerous mission. Thanks also to the military, sailors, pilots and the highest intelligence professionals.
It was a great night for the US and for the whole world. The cruel killer was brutally destroyed and will no longer be able to offend a single woman, a single child. The world has become much safer. God bless America!
Some details of the operation became known during a press conference after Trump's speech. In particular, answering journalists' questions, the president said that al-Baghdadi was followed for several weeks, and it was not possible to destroy him on the first attempt: the operation was canceled two or three times.
Eight helicopters landed soldiers at the building. Trump watched it from the White House: “It was as clear as if I was watching a movie.” The most dangerous thing was to fly and fly away. Russia was great, Iraq was great, Türkiye didn't fire. They didn't know what we were going to do, but they hate IS too.
Ever since I became president, I have been asking all the time: where is al-Baghdadi? And a couple of weeks ago I was able to give the answer. [ISIS terrorists] are very smart guys, they don't use cell phones, they are brilliant at using the Internet - the best, although not better than Donald Trump. They lost a lot of people, how many exactly, I'll tell you later. And we haven't lost a single person. Only one dog was injured - she went into the tunnel.
