On October 27, the largest Western media reported the death of Abu Bakra al-Baghdadi. Including the liquidation of the head of the IG, citing their own sources, wrote Reuters, CNN and other publications. According to them, al-Baghdadi was killed as a result of the Pentagon’s special operation in the north-west of Syria-in the province of Idlib near the Turkish border. Sources of publications said that on the night of October 27, American aviation bombed the building near the village of Barish, in which, presumably, the leader of the IG was hidden. As a result of the operation, according to various sources, six or seven people were killed: three men, three women and, one of the versions, one child.
CNN published a video of the house in Idlib , clarifying that he could not say with complete confidence that an operation was captured on it, during which Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi died. BBC, citing its sources, claims that the operation in which helicopters participated lasted at least 30 minutes. According to the Turkish agency Anadolu, in addition to helicopters, drones were involved, and an operation lasted at least four hours. All publications report that the house on which the blows was delivered was destroyed to the ground.
The operation is called the result of the coordinated work of several countries. The exchange of information with the United States was announced in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. The Times of Israel provides the words of the commander of the Kurds in Syria, who said that Kurdish democratic forces in Syria were working with American intelligence to prepare surgery. In addition, it was noted that the air space over Idlib was controlled by the Russian Air Force - thus, the Government of the Russian Federation at least knew about the operation.
The official confirmation of the death of Abu Bakra al-Baghdadi was not until the middle of the day Moscow time. On Sunday night, US President Donald Trump wrote a short tweet: “It happened very important”-many media connected him with reports on the liquidation of the head of the “Islamic state”.
At 15:20, Trump announced at a press conference on the death of the leader of the Islamic State. In his speech, he confirmed that several countries participated in the operation - and thanked for help in its preparation of the Russian government, Syria, Iraq and Turkey, as well as Kurdish formations in Syria. In particular, he said that Russia opened air space over Idlib for American aircraft, and the Kurds “transmitted information that turned out to be useful”. Trump said that al-Baghdadi “died like a dog”-according to the president, the leader of the IS tried to hide in the tunnel, where he took several children with him, and when the American military overtook him, he blew up a suicide biblé. Trump described his participation in the operation as follows: "I seemed to watch a movie."
