In Altai, buckwheat rose almost double

A ton of buckwheat in the region now costs 15.72 thousand rubles, which is 79.8% more than in 2018.

The main reason for the rise in the cost of buckwheat is the increase in raw materials from suppliers, which began in the end of July. This was the result of the fact that in previous years, buckwheat prices fell, farmers began to reduce the area under this culture. As a result, a shortage of cereals formed on the market.

Earlier, the media wrote that Russian retailers received from suppliers a buckwheat cereal notification about increasing prices by 20–25%. According to FAS, in certain regions of Russia, wholesale prices for buckwheat have already risen from 5 to 29%.

“In accordance with the monitoring of wholesale prices for socially significant food products conducted by the FAS Russia, as part of the commission of the Government of the Russian Federation, in certain regions there is an increase in prices for buckwheat cereals. However, there were no facts of violation of antitrust laws in these regions, ”said Anna Mirochinenko, head of the agricultural control department of the agricultural sector.
