Telecom operators MTS, VimpelCom, MegaFon and Rostelecom have asked the government to subsidize their costs of purchasing equipment to implement the " Yarovaya Law ." This was reported by Reuters and Kommersant , citing the text of a letter sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Communications.

Operators and the non-profit organization "Digital Economy" asked that departments support the preparation of a corresponding government resolution. It proposes to approve the rules for providing subsidies to banks and leasing companies for loans and contracts issued for the purchase of equipment at a preferential rate.

The operators estimated their costs for purchasing equipment at 10-20% of the total costs for supporting and developing communication networks over five years. The amount of expected subsidies is not specified. Sberbank and VTB are indicated as financial partners in the letter.

The letter notes that measures of economic support for domestic manufacturers of telecommunications and cable equipment are provided for by the national program “Digital Economy”.

A representative of the Ministry of Communications, Yevgeny Novikov, told Kommersant that the letter from telecom operators has nothing to do with the national program "Digital Economy". "The program does not provide for subsidies to operators for information storage systems," Novikov said.
