Sadovnichy continues to lead Moscow State University

MSU Rector Viktor Sadovnichy will remain in office for now, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said today.

Quote: "Plans for the further development of Moscow State University were discussed. Sadovnichy continues to lead the university," Peskov said on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks." This is how he answered a question about the topic of today's meeting between the rector and Vladimir Putin.

• Vedomosti, citing its sources,wrote that a “political figure” could take the place of 80-year-old Sadovnichy, whose term expires in December.
• The president has already extended the rector's powers twice. But this time he will leave the post, the publication's sources said.
• According to Vedomosti sources, Sadovnichy may take the post of honorary president of the university or move to some position in the scientific and technological valley of Moscow State University, the concept of which was developed by the Innopraktika foundation of Vladimir Putin’s alleged daughter Katerina Tikhonova.
• The rector of Moscow State University willingly demonstrated loyalty to the Kremlin in political matters: after the Moscow rallies and the arrest of HSE student Yegor Zhukov, he called on MSU students to “be very careful” and “the most important thing is to study.”
