Another 19 regions will receive a tax regime for self-employed people

The Ministry of Finance proposed starting a tax regime for the self-employed in 19 more regions from the beginning of 2020.

These are St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Volgograd, Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Rostov, Samara, Sakhalin, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions; Krasnoyarsk and Perm Territories, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, YNAO, Bashkiria.

The tax regime for the self-employed was launched as an experiment in early 2019 in Moscow, the Moscow region, Tatarstan and the Kaluga region. In 2020, it is planned to expand it to the whole country.

• The self-employed pay personal income tax at a rate of 4-6%, and not the personal income tax of 13%.
• To register as such, you need to have an income of no more than 2.4 million rubles a year and not use employees.
• Employers have begun to abuse this regime, with which the Ministry of Finance intends to fight .
• The most common professions among the self-employed are taxi drivers, landlords, consultants and tutors.
• As of September, 201 thousand people became officially self-employed in Russia.
• According to the RANEPA , there are actually 16-17 million self-employed in Russia.
