The criminal case against Danila Safronov, a 16-year-old resident of Tomsk, who hit his hand on the hood of a car that hit his dog, has been dropped.
As announced by the Investigative Committee, Safronov caused minor damage to the car, for which no criminal liability is provided. The case was dismissed for lack of corpus delicti.
In June 2019, Safronov repeatedly hit the hood of an SUV that hit his puppy. The driver of the car apologized, but then reported the teenager to the police. Safronov became a defendant in a case of deliberate damage to someone else's property, which caused significant damage (for this, up to two years in prison are provided). The SUV driver estimated the cost of repairing the car at 14,000 rubles.
In September, the justice of the peace, who received Safronov's case, returned him for additional investigation. The Investigative Committee insisted on this - "taking into account the increased public outcry."
