Google bought fitness tracker maker Fitbit for $2.1 billion

Google has bought fitness tracker maker Fitbit. This has been officially confirmed by both companies.

As part of the deal, Google will pay $7.35 per share. The total amount will be approximately $2.1 billion.

The Fitbit press release emphasizes that the company will remain an independent division within Google and will not share user data with the parent corporation for advertising purposes.
