The court upheld the Ministry of Justice's repeated refusal to register Open Russia as legal.

The Zamoskovoretsky District Court upheld the repeated refusal of the Ministry of Justice to register the public organization Open Russia. This was reported in the telegram channel of the organization.

The reasons for the refusal were "incorrect font size, quotation marks of an unspecified form" in the application for registration, as well as the coincidence of the name "Open Russia" with another organization previously registered in 2003.

According to Open Russia, the organization founded in 2003 has nothing in common with them: "This is a different legal entity, with a different territorial coverage, composition of founders and full name."

On August 22, the Moscow City Court on August 21 rejected the appeal against the decision of the Zamoskvoretsky Court and upheld the refusal to register Open Russia, the executive director of the movement Andrei Pivovarov reports on his Telegram channel.

Pivovarov is sure that the refusal is politically motivated. “They didn’t bother with the consideration of the case: the judges spent about 7 minutes in the deliberation room,” he wrote. The decision will be appealed to the Second Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction.
