Moscow, Kremlin, November 5, 2019According to President Vladimir Putin, the place of free online Encyclopedia “Wikipedia” in the Russian Internet should take the electronic version of the large Russian encyclopedia.
Vladimir Putin expressed this opinion on November 5 at a meeting of the Council in the Russian language in the Kremlin, commenting on the words of one of the participants in the meeting that schoolchildren often use unusable sources of information, including Wikipedia, TASS reports.
“Regarding Wikipedia ... It is better to replace it with the new large Russian encyclopedia in electronic form. This will be, in any case, reliable information in good, modern, by the way, form, ”said Putin.
In 2016, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev supported the idea of a nationwide scientific and educational interactive encyclopedic portal, which is not inferior in terms of efficiency of Wikipedia, and signed an order to create such a portal on the basis of a large Russian encyclopedia and other Russian scientific encyclopedias.
To implement the project of a nationwide interactive encyclopedic portal, an interdepartmental working group, headed by the deputy chairman of the government, was formed - the head of the government apparatus Sergey Prikhodko. Responsible for the organizational and technical support of the interdepartmental working group was appointed the Ministry of Communications and Mass Communications.
In the summer of 2019, it became known that the first subsystems of the portal will be commissioned in 2020.
