The Office of the Ministry of Justice for Ingushetia filed an application with the Supreme Court of the republic on the liquidation of the Council of Teips of the Ingush people. Meduza was informed about this by the Human Rights Center Memorial.

As follows from the lawsuit (available to the editors), the reason for the statement was that the council did not eliminate the violations found by the Ministry of Justice in February. In May, the Ministry of Justice suspended the activities of the council because of these violations.

The Supreme Court of Ingushetia has suspended consideration of the lawsuit at the request of a lawyer working with Memorial until the appeals against the decision on the legality of the May inspection of the Ministry of Justice and on the fine for "failure to comply with the legal order in time" are considered.

Since April, the head of the organization, Malsag Uzhakhov, has been under arrest in connection with the use of violence against police officers at a rally on March 27 in Magas. It was an uncoordinated action demanding the resignation of the leadership of Ingushetia after the authorities of the republic decided to transfer part of the land to Chechnya.
The council of teips also opposed the law on the alienation of part of the Ingush lands in favor of North Ossetia. The organization said that the decision of the Ministry of Justice to suspend the activities of the Council is connected with its call to the Ingush deputies not to adopt this law.
