The press secretary of the head of Chechnya, Alvi Karimov, accused the BBC of mistranslating Ramzan Kadyrov's words about severe punishment of Internet users who "offend someone's honor." It is reported by Interfax.

“The broadcasting corporation [BBC] interpreter knows Chechen as well as I speak Tahitian,” Karimov said.

Kadyrov's press secretary did not give his literal translation of the words of the head of Chechnya, only noting that it was "that we will restore order in the republic, we will stop those who inflate hostility and sow lies." “[These words] are perceived by these ‘well-wishers’ as they would like,” Karimov concluded.

On November 5, Grozny TV channel aired a story about Kadyrov's meeting with the leadership of Chechnya. The meeting was held in Chechen, the TV channel did not provide translation into Russian.

The BBC Russian Service drew attention to the fact that in his speech Kadyrov actually called for reprisals against Internet users for insults, and translated the story into Russian. “Those who violate the agreement between people, engage in gossip, strife, if we do not stop them by killing, imprisoning, scaring, nothing will work,” Kadyrov said (according to the translator).
