The Ministry of Justice of Ingushetia demanded the liquidation of the “Council of Teips of the Ingush People”

The Ministry of Justice for Ingushetia filed an application with the Supreme Court of the republic for the liquidation of the "Council of teips of the Ingush people." This was reported to OVD-Info by the press secretary of the Human Rights Center "Memorial" Yulia Reprintseva.

In the document, the department refers to two decisions of the Magas City Court. The interests of the organization are represented by lawyer Magomed-Basir Ozdoev.

In May, the regional department of the Ministry of Justice appointed an unscheduled inspection of the activities of the Council of Teips and issued a proposal to eliminate violations. The council of teips appealed to the Magassky court with a request to recognize the actions of the department as illegal, but the court dismissed the claim.

In early October, the organization was fined for failing to comply with the instructions of the Ministry of Justice. The Council of Teips is currently awaiting appeals against both court decisions. On November 8, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia will hold a preliminary hearing on the liquidation of the Council.

After that, mass protests began in Ingushetia demanding that the agreement be declared illegal and that a referendum be held. The protests lasted for about a month.
• At the end of March 2019, protests resumed in the republic. After a two-day action on March 26–27, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence against police officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). In total, 26 defendants are involved in this case, including the chairman of the Council of Teips of the Ingush people, Malsag Uzhakhov.
