Kaliningrad does not have enough safe places for women's violence

Kaliningrad public figures said that assistance to women affected by violence is not enough in the region. In Kaliningrad there is only one state crisis center, there is no single hot line, and the population is poorly informed about the problem of domestic violence. This was told by the president of the Public Organization of the Women's World Oksana Prishchepova during a round table.

“Our situation is not entirely good. Imagine: the woman ran out into the night shirt, what should she do? At least, we need that the city has an emergency small apartment for several places. For emergency cases where a woman can apply without documents,” said Prischepova.

30 kilometers from Kaliningrad - in Pionersky - the only state crisis center for 18 seats works and there are queues. There are several beds for women with Orthodox churches and in the crisis center "Nadezhda". But this is not enough, activists believe. They tried to convince the city authorities to provide them with sites for such centers, but they refused.

In the region there is no single hotline phone where in emergency cases they could contact the victims of domestic violence. At the same time, the social activists emphasized, there are more and more appeals. This happens because the country is discussing the law on the prevention of domestic violence after a resonant case with a criminal case against the Khachaturian sisters.

As the representative of the center Svetlana Zangina "Your Life in your hands" said, the organization receives three or four emergency appeals per week.

Activists experience difficulties with informing - they do not accept leaflets of organizations either in a medical institution or in multifunctional centers, referring to excess cleaning.

Representatives of the Kaliningrad public organizations said that they would turn to the regions of the region, the Federation Council and the State Duma and demand to organize a hot line and allocate additional premises for injured women.
