In Elista, a pensioner was fined in connection with a protest against the appointment of the city mayor

On November 11, the Elista City Court fined pensioner Badma Kataeva 5,000 rubles for participating in a protest on October 1 against the appointment of Elista Mayor Dmitry Trapeznikov. This is reported by the "Caucasian Knot".

Badma Kataeva, a pensioner and former teacher, was found guilty by the court of violating the rules for participation in a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Kataeva herself did not admit her guilt at the meeting and stressed that she had participated in the prayer service.

“It's not even about the money and not that I have to pay them out of my pension. And that I was found guilty. For what? This is unfair […] What did I say there (at the event on October 1) that was so special? I said that I want to openly address the head of the republic [...] I called on him to hear his people and correct his mistake. And at the end of the speech, I said good wishes in the Kalmyk language. It was a prayer service - so that our prayers reach heaven, so that heaven hears us and helps us get rid of bad events and bad people," Kataeva is quoted by the "Caucasian Knot".

• On October 1, in Elista, on the territory of the cultural complex "Pagoda of Seven Days" in front of the Government House, was held a protest against Trapeznikov . The day before, the police warned the activists about the “inadmissibility of violations of the law”, and in social networks the townspeople were invited not to the action, but to the “prayer for the well-being of Elista”.
• At the end of September, at the suggestion of the head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov Trapeznikov, the former head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), was appointed head of the Elista administration. After that, several gatherings took place in the city demanding to remove him from office.
