In Bashkortostan, the authorities refused to approve a rally in defense of the Kushtau Shikhan

The government of Bashkortostan and the administration of the city of Ufa refused to agree on a rally in defense of Shikhan Kushtau from industrial development. This is reported by the publication “Idel. Realii” with reference to Ruslan Gabbasov representing the applicants for the event.

A rally of up to 10 thousand participants was planned to be held on November 23. The Bashkir public organization "Bashkort" filed a notice of the rally with the government and the Ufa mayor's office in advance - "on the first day allowed by law for filing notices, at nine o'clock three minutes," Ruslan Gabbasov noted.

However, the government of the republic told the applicants that another event would be held at the proposed venue for the rally on November 23, and all other suitable areas were also occupied. The Ufa Mayor's Office explained the refusal by the fact that the applicants allegedly committed violations when submitting the notification. What these violations were, the officials did not specify.

The topic of the rally announced by "Bashkort" was supposed to be "protection of Kushtau and other natural objects of the republic." In the application filed with the government, the approximate number of participants was up to 10 thousand people. According to the organizers, it was planned that activists from all over the republic would come to the rally in Ufa, including residents of villages and settlements located near Kushtau. As previously stated in Bashkort, in the struggle to protect Shikhan, the organization will interact with other civil and political forces, with representatives of "the entire republican public, regardless of nationality."

"Bashkort" will appeal the refusals of the government of Bashkortostan and the mayor's office of Ufa in court.
