Russian airlines lost more than 3 billion rubles due to the ban on flights to Georgia

The six largest Russian airlines presented to the Ministry of Transport the calculations of their losses from the ban on flights to Georgia carried out according to the methodology of the Federal Air Transport Agency. Employees of three of these airlines claim that they do not count on compensation from losses promised by the state. According to them, even the president’s order to pay compensation for the rise in price of kerosene in 2018 (23 billion rubles to 34 airlines) is “dragged” and transferred to 2020, which means that it is also not worth counting on compensation for losses from the ban on Georgia. Employees of the other two airlines say that the failure to fulfill the planned flights to Georgia does not carry direct losses, the calculations of the airlines are based on unknown revenue in the summer season. And the Ministry of Transport advocates for compensation only by direct losses from the prohibition of flights.

According to employees, instead of the execution of the July flights to Georgia, the planes were mostly idle, and it was possible to reduce them to other directions only in August. At the same time, in order to sell these tanks in a short period, it was necessary to reduce prices. Representatives of carriers believe that the topic of compensation will be constantly discussed in a sluggish current mode until they cease to be relevant in connection with the improvement of Russian-Georgian relations.

Experts recall that the losses from the prohibition of flights to Georgia are sensitive to all carriers, since the aviation industry is generally unprofitable, and the amount of 3 billion rubles.
