President Vladimir Putin said that the employees of Rosatom who died in Severodvinsk were testing the latest and unparalleled weapons. His words are reported by Interfax.

“They led the most complex, responsible and critically important direction, we are talking about the most advanced and unparalleled world technical ideas and solutions, about weapons that are designed to ensure sovereignty and security for Russia for decades to come,” the head of state said, presenting awards to widows dead.

Putin added that they had "a special mission, not an ordinary job." He also noted that Russia will continue to improve these weapons no matter what.

Five employees of Rosatom and two military personnel were killed in an explosion on August 8 at a naval test site in the Arkhangelsk region during a missile test. On the day of the accident, Roshydromet recorded a short-term increase in the radiation background by 4-16 times.
