Human rights activists spoke about the detention of a Khabarovsk LGBT activist who was charged with pornography

In Khabarovsk, LGBT activist Yulia Tsvetkova was detained, against whom a criminal case had previously been opened for pornography (clause “b” of part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code), reports the Russian LGBT Network.

As told Svetlana Zakharova, the organization’s communications manager, OVD-Info, Tsvetkova was detained for violating her recognizance not to leave. The girl is in police department No. 8, they are going to transfer her to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where she lives.

Tsvetkova announced the initiation of a criminal case on November 20. The police approached her at the station and took her away for questioning, where, after refusing to testify, they announced that the girl had been transferred from witness to suspect. Then they searched Tsvetkova’s apartment and the theater studio where the activist had previously worked.

According to DVHab.ru , the case was opened because of the public page “Vagina Monologues,” which is administered by Tsvetkova.

Previously, the activist had already been called to the police because of the body-positive project “A Woman is Not a Doll.” Tsvetkova closed the Merak youth theater group, explaining this decision by pressure and bullying. Schoolchildren participating in the performances also complained about police visits.
