The Ministry of Culture refused to release 4 episodes of the film “Dau” due to “propaganda of pornography”

The Ministry of Culture, due to “pornography propaganda”, refused to issue a rental certificate to four films from the “Dau” cycle directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky about the Soviet physicist, Nobel Prize winner Lev Landau. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.

The episodes “DAU. New man”, “Dow. Nora Son" about the seduction of Landau's son by his mother, "Dau. Sasha Valera” about the relationship between two lumpen janitors and “DAU. Natasha” about rape during interrogation by the KGB.

The head of the cinematography department, Olga Lyubimova, in a conversation with Interfax , assured that films cannot be assigned the 18+ category: “This is the rare case when we are forced to admit that we cannot issue a rental certificate for the last episodes.”

In total, Khrzhanovsky, turning to the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, asked for permission for 10 films. “6 of them received a rental certificate without any problems,” said Lyubimova.

The Dow biopic, which has been filmed since 2008, premiered in Paris in January and consists of 13 films and series. The action takes place in the 1930s-1960s on the territory of the Kharkov Institute, the prototype of which was the Moscow Institute of Physical Problems, where Landau worked.

Several thousand participants in the filming, including conductor Teodor Currentzis, theater director Anatoly Vasiliev, Nobel laureate Robert Gross, artist Marina Abramovich and neo-Nazi Maxim Martsinkevich, were forbidden to leave the set for several months, all their actions were filmed.
