The director of a Novosibirsk school was given a suspended sentence for beating students

The former director of a school in the Kolyvansky district of the Novosibirsk region was found guilty of violence against students. He received three years probation.

The Kolyvansky District Court found the former director of the secondary school in the village of Vyuny, Dmitry Kuritsky, guilty under Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of authority with the use of violence).

“He was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of three years suspended with a probationary period of two years,” quoted a representative of the court as saying. Interfax

The school principal was accused of using physical violence against students in grades 5, 6 and 9 in 2016-2017 “in the course of educational work with school students.” Allegedly, he grabbed them by the neck, hit them on the body and head.

Kuritsky was charged with five episodes, follows from the case card on the court's website. But in court, some of them were reclassified

Three students aged 13-17 were recognized as victims. At first, Kuritsky denied his guilt, but admitted in court that he had used force against the students.

The court sentenced the ex-director to three years of probation.
