Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and assistant to the head of the department Vladimir Kolokoltsev, was not promoted to police major general after the case of Meduza journalist Ivan Golunov. This was reported by Open Media, citing a high-ranking federal official.
According to the publication, Volk was supposed to receive the new title by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, which was published on June 11 (on the same day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs dropped the charges against Golunov).
According to an Open Media source, Volk was removed from the list at the last moment. The publication sent a request to the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Volk oversees the work of all police press services, including the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow.
