A virus has appeared on Android devices that independently transfers money through banking applications

A new Trojan has appeared on mobile devices with the Android operating system, which independently transfers funds through bank mobile applications to the accounts of attackers. about this RBC writes with reference to a report by Group-IB.

The existence of the virus was confirmed by two banks - Pochta Bank and Moscow Credit Bank. Representatives of the companies reported that they had encountered its use, but explained that it is used extremely rarely. MKB and Pochta Bank said they can monitor the infection of clients' smartphones attacked by this virus, and warn clients if unauthorized transactions are suspected.

The existence of the Trojan was also confirmed by Kaspersky Lab. The company's anti-virus expert Viktor Chebyshev said that cases of managing banking applications are rare.

VTB, Rosbank and Raffeisenbank stated that they had not encountered the use of such a Trojan. VTB representatives clarified that they cannot detect viruses on clients’ devices, so they focus exclusively on client complaints. Other market participants did not comment on the situation.

According to Group-IB, from July 2018 to June 2019, 110 million rubles were stolen using Trojans for Android. Experts noted that compared to the same period last year, this figure decreased by 43%. According to them, the use of viruses has decreased after the arrest of the owners of the largest Android botnets. Because of this, hackers have switched to international markets.
