
The professor of the Faculty of Economics of the European University, Julia Okryatyatnina, recorded the course of Piracy Economics for Arzamas Academy. Audiolectes talk about why piracy accompanying trade and how it influenced culture from antiquity to our time.
The course consists of five lectures. In the First, Okriernina talks about pirates in ancient Greece and Rome, in the second - about marine robberies in the Middle Ages. The third lecture is dedicated to the golden eyelid of piracy when the most famous pirates appeared. The fourth lecture talks about modern pirates in Somalia and Latin America, and the final one is about digital piracy.
There are also three auxiliary texts prepared by Arzamas Academy. In the first, the main myths about the pirates are collected, the second collected the statements of Pushkin, Chekhov and Mandelstam about copyright, and the third is dedicated to the most famous pirates.
