Dylda entered the top 50 films of the year

The British Cinema Institute (BFI) published its list of the 50 best films of 2019. He included a picture of Kantemir Balagov “Dylda”, telling about the post -war Leningrad.

The only Russian film in the list took 21st place. Dylda, in particular, overtook the successful film by Todd Phillips “Joker” and the picture of Yorgos Lantimos “The favorite”, which claimed Oscar for the best film.

The first place in the ranking was taken by the British film "Souvenir". The five also included the South Korean “Parasites”, “Irish” Martin Scorsese, “Once ... In Hollywood” Quentin Tarantino and the French film “Portrait of a Woman in Fire”.

Earlier, Balagova’s picture received a prize for the best directing in the “Special View” program of the Cannes Film Festival. Later, the film was also awarded the Awards of the International Federation of Films (Fipers). Dylda also received a nomination for a special LGBT Premium of the festival. In September, the film was nominated to Oscar from Russia .

“Dylda” tells about the life of two young front -line friends who returned from the war to the post -war Leningrad 1945. The film is partly based on the book “The War of NOT A WOMEN FIRST” by the Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksievich, who received the Nobel Prize in literature in 2015.

Kantemir Balagov first became known as a director in 2017. His first film “Testamus” participated in the program “Special View” at the Cannes Film Festival and received a fip ”prize.
