Intel accused Qualcomm of squeezing from the market

Intel had to sell a modem production for Apple smartphones, because a direct competitor, Qualcomm, used the methods of unfair competition. An Intel spokesman made this statement in court. His expanded version appeared on the company's blog .

Apple bought the Intel modem business in July 2019 for $ 1 billion. The TechCrunch publication assumes that Intel will try to get even more, having achieved the punishment of Qualcomm.

In May, the court had already sided with Intel. Qualcomm appealed. It is now being considered.

• The only client of the Intel modem business was Apple. Until 2017, she collaborated with Qualcomm, but left him due to too high prices, in her opinion.
• For two years, Apple and Qualcomm were submitted: Apple accused Qualcomm of high prices, Qualcomm claimed that his technology was stolen. Because of this conflict, the authorities of China and Germany temporarily forbade the sale of the iPhone.
• In April, Apple and Qualcomm entered into an agreement designed for six years: Apple will again use Qualcomm chips. Intel had no choice but to get out of business. But it still produces modems for computers, devices of the Internet of things and autonomous vehicles.
