In Blagoveshchensk, the Cosmodrome Contractor Vostochny was sentenced to 11 years

The court in Blagoveshchensk sentenced the head of the contractor of the Vostochny cosmodrome to the 11 years of the colony. Dmitry Vishnevsky was found guilty of a waste of almost a billion rubles, Interfax reports . After the sentence was announced, he was taken into custody. The businessman will serve his sentence in a general regime colony. The court also decided to recover over 980 million rubles from it.

According to investigators, in 2012-2014, the company of Vishnevsky Empire received about two billion rubles from the state -owned company Dalspetsstroy to create an external power supply system of the cosmodrome. After the businessman, he transferred part of the money to the expense of a third -party organization. As a result, 660 million rubles were stolen under one contract, and about 320 million rubles in the other.

On November 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a meeting with the government that at the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome, "failed to restore order." According to him, dozens of criminal cases and court decisions did not stop theft on national projects. "It was said a hundred times - work transparently, large money is allocated, the project is practically nationwide! No, they steal - hundreds of millions, hundreds of millions!" - said the president.

• The construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region has been underway since 2012. Now 14 out of 19 objects have been completed. In total, 91 billion rubles were allocated for the construction of the facility. According to the Kremlin, 11 billion was stolen out of this money. Only 3.5 billion rubles managed to return.
• During the construction, the Prosecutor General’s Office revealed more than 17 thousand violations of the law and instituted more than 140 criminal cases related to the construction of the facility.
• In November 2019, the Investigative Committee of Russia said that 42 cases were transferred to the courts on theft during the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome, 58 people were convicted of them. Another 12 criminal cases are investigated.
