When Irina brought a cat home, her husband threatened: one more - and he will leave. But this did not happen: Irina met Elena and they together founded a new shelter for cats
We help Ray helpIrina is a professional groomer: she cuts dogs in the cabin, leaves for customers at home. Elena is an elementary school teacher. Both live in the suburbs, and four years ago organized their shelter for homeless animals.
At first, both simply fed and treated stray cats and dogs. But the sufferers became more and more: only during this year they sterilized and saved more than 130 cats and cats, about half of them found a new house.
“I’m walking along the street: a tiny kitten, swollen’s paw sits in my way, looks at me and meus,” recalls Irina the first saved animal. - And I never had cats, I am generally a dog girl. But I realized that, besides me, no one would help him. He was in terrible condition. Even maggots were already crawling along it. I took him to the veterinarian. I cured, went through, but I don’t know how to attach it. So I stayed with me. "

Irina managed to save only one puppy, barely holding on her feet from exhaustion. I took it home. Another cat - when Irina brought her home and her husband announced that more cats in the house would not tolerate: either I, or she. Everyone decided the five -year -old daughter and the question: "If we meet a sick cat on the street, do we have to pass by?" The husband fell silent, and soon called Irina himself: what to do, a cat dies at a bus stop. Irina, of course, answered "take away."

Irina tried to give ads about attachment, but the matter did not go. “I don’t know how it would end if you hadn’t met Lena.”
Elena, an elementary school teacher, works in a private gymnasium. At first she helped mainly dogs. Saved abandoned puppies. He treated, and then attached. But increasingly, stray cats and endless unfortunate sick kittens caught her eye. Cats were spent exponentially, it was obviously impossible to attach everyone. Then Elena decided that cats should be sterilized for a start, but then there was not a single clinic with a hospital nearby. Where to put a cat after surgery? You can’t go outside: the cat needs at least two weeks to recover. Home too: Lena cat is a bearer of viral leukemia.
Irina, by that time, also came to the conclusion that sterilization could change the situation. She gathered cats around the courtyards, brought the veterinarian to her home, and a week later those who did not need help took back to the yards.

I left my phone. One such business card pensioner was handed over to Elena.
The first cat, which Elena was taken to operate to Irina, turned out to be a sick: she needed a serious operation, then the cat picked up the virus. While she was treated, the women made friends.
- And then Irina asked me to help attach the puppies.
- Who, me?
- Well, hello, these were Shanya and Lada ...
“Oh, yes, I already forgot how it all began,” Irina picks up.
Shortly before the meeting, Irina and Elena in the industrial zone nearby killed all adult dogs, and the puppies were simply quitting to die. Irina saved three. “As a result, one was attached to my mother,” says Lena. “And two live with Irina.”

Then, four years ago, Irina and Elena decided to combine efforts and organize mass sterilization of homeless animals in her area. One of the first tasks was the education of local grandmothers. Pensioners, feeding street cats in their yards, were divided into two fronts: some agreed and even then asked to help sterilize their pets, others harshly defended the position “by nature is ordered to give birth”: the latter and had to explain that this would save from annual tears on the dying kittens. As a result, in four years Irina and Elena sterilized more than 450 cats and cats.
Then a new idea came up - to create a small shelter “Lapushka”. But only for cats - creators of the shelter explain that the selected area for dogs needed more space. They equipped a feline, in a separate room - cages for animals on quarantine. Now Elena and Irina have about 60 wards.

Animals Irina and Elena are kept at their own expense, but when serious medical care is required, the costs themselves can not cope. It is even harder when the help of veterinarians needs several animals at once: here you can no longer do without financial support, but also without a car.
It happened when last fall help was immediately needed by a blind kitten, a nosed mule and an elderly thoroughbred beautiful beauty Baba Zina, thrown out into the street. Then a tumor grew on the nose and the veterinarian ordered a MRI to make. Elena wrote to the Ray Foundation, put a photo - and now shows a muzzle of a gray cat with a ridiculous inflated nose in the phone, as if several bees were bitten at once. “In“ RE ”we were scolded for the fact that we pulled for so long and brought the tumor to such sizes. But the help was approved - they accepted the application for treatment and sent to the clinic. The first mulin inspection, consultation of an oncologist, examinations, biopsy cost us 17 thousand. Without “Ray” we can’t pull this. ” Fortunately, the tumor was not malignant.
Irina with her home cats photo: Maria Plotnikova for TDBut Ray not only paid for all the necessary expenses, but also helped to deliver Baba Zina, Mulia and a few more cats to the Zootaxi clinic: two years ago the fund had a special car that helps shelters and volunteers with animal transportation. “ Ray” took the “paw” under the guardianship and continues to help the shelter today: for example, it brings cat food, and if you need to be zootaxi again, it’s enough to apply.
Cats in the shelter "Pawdown" Photo: Maria Plotnikova for TDThe Ray Foundation in 2012 was created by volunteers - the same as Irina and Elena - to make assistance to the homeless and abandoned systemic and effective animals. The fund helps 30 shelters in Moscow and the Moscow Region. In the care of Ray, more than 15 thousand cats and dogs. Monthly, “Raeobil” makes at least 70 trips, transports from 35 to 50 animals and delivers to the batch aid of a total weight of more than two and a half tons. Zootaxi does not fulfill commercial orders, but works only to help homeless animals and exists due to private donations. Now we are collecting money for the work of Raeobil - this is gasoline, insurance and maintenance, as well as the salary of two drivers. Two - so that zootaxi can carry animals every day, including weekends and holidays.
Please arrange a monthly donation for Raisobil. And then Irina, Elena and other caring people will be able to continue to save cats and dogs: to treat, nurse and find a new house to them.
We talk about various funds that work and help in Moscow, but Moscow experience can be useful and used in other regions of the country
