Lawyers for the Khachaturian sisters commented to “Takim Dela” on the final version of the charges that the Investigative Committee brought against the girls on December 3. Two sisters are accused of murder by prior conspiracy, the third is declared insane.

The lawyer of the older sister, Krestina, Alexei Liptser, said that the defense, “as before, does not agree with the prosecution.” The defense insists that the girls killed their father in self-defense and after years of abuse.

“We submitted a petition to the investigator to terminate the criminal prosecution, but we were refused. We filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office, which has now received the case. We will wait for their decision on our complaint and on the investigation as a whole. We hope that the supervisory agency will listen to our arguments,” Liptser said.

According to the lawyer of the middle sister, Angelina, Alexey Parshin, events are developing “according to plan.”

“The charge was filed back in June, and now the case has been transferred to the prosecutor’s office for its assessment. The prosecutor's office, as a supervisory body, must make an appropriate decision - either the case goes to court, or it will be returned to the investigator. The response should arrive within 10 to 30 days,” Parshin said.

The defense adds that if the prosecutor's office approves the indictment, Angelina and Krestina will be tried by a jury.

Yaroslav Pakulin, the lawyer for the younger sister, Maria, told TD that, in the opinion of the lawyers, there are grounds to return the case to the investigator and conduct an additional investigation.

“We are talking about the commission for minors of the guardianship authorities, which was supposed to meet on the issue of bringing Mikhail Khachaturyan to justice for improper performance of parental responsibilities,” said Pakulin. — [The commission was supposed to meet] right before the tragic events. He knew about this meeting and, apparently, contacted his friends from the supervisory department about this. We believe that if the investigation established these facts, it should have demanded all the materials and interrogated all those involved. This was not done."

In November, another lawyer for the sisters, Marie Davtyan, demanded that the murdered Khachaturyan’s connections with high-ranking prosecutors be checked. The corresponding petition was sent to the Prosecutor General's Office. The girls' defense believes that because of their father's connections, the sisters could not turn anywhere for help.

According to the final version of the investigation, on July 27, 2018, the Khachaturyan sisters, “experiencing acute personal hostility towards their father,” due to the fact that he had caused physical and mental suffering to their daughters for a long time, inflicted numerous blows on him with a knife and a hammer to the head, neck and chest . Mikhail Khachaturyan died from his injuries. The motive for the murder was recognized as a mitigating circumstance.

Angelina and Krestina were charged under paragraph “g” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The youngest, Maria, was declared insane. The investigation asks the prosecutor's office to prescribe compulsory treatment for her.

On October 24, the Moscow City Court extended the period of the preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions against the Khachaturian sisters for two months, until December 28. The girls are accused of murdering their 57-year-old father Mikhail, whose body with stab wounds in the neck and chest was found on July 27, 2018 in the stairwell of a house on Altufevskoye Highway.
