The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg appointed five thousand rubles as compensation to Samed Kholod, a random passer-by who was detained for protests against pension reform on September 9, 2018. This is reported by the "Apology of Protest".
On the day of the action, according to the Apology of Protest, Kholod and his wife were out for a walk, but they were detained by the police. Protocols were drawn up against them under Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for holding a public event).
In November 2018, the Kirovsky District Court found that the police did not provide evidence that confirms the guilt of the detainees. The cases of the spouses were terminated due to the lack of corpus delicti.
As a result, the court exacted five thousand rubles in favor of Samad Kholod as compensation for non-pecuniary damage and fifteen thousand rubles for legal costs. Kholod's wife is also going to file a claim for damages.
