The defendant in the “Moscow case” Andrei Barshai had his term of detention in a pre-trial detention center extended

The Basmanny Court extended the measure of restraint in the form of arrest to the person involved in the “Moscow case” Andrei Barshai until January 27, 2020, reports . MBKh Media

Barshai himself was not present at the meeting, as he is currently undergoing a psychiatric examination.

The defender of the person involved in the case, Mansur Gilmanov, said in court that Barshai would not be able to hide from the investigation due to the lack of a passport and work abroad. The lawyer emphasized that his client “successfully studies at the Moscow Aviation Institute, is characterized positively, has a family, many good friends” and that they are ready to make bail for him.

Judge Safina refused to change the preventive measure for the defense and extended the period of detention in the pre-trial detention center until January 27, 2020.

• Andrei Barshai is 21 years old, he is accused of pushing a National Guardsman during the action on July 27 (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).
• The MAI student was detained on October 14. First, he was sent to a temporary detention center, where cellmates forced Barshay to confess, then he was placed under arrest until December 14, underwent an outpatient psychiatric examination, and was taken to the Vodnik pre-trial detention center.
• In connection with the Moscow rally on July 27 for fair elections, during the dispersal of which the police detained at least 1,373 people, a criminal case was opened under articles on mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence against government officials (Article 318 of the Criminal Code).
