Petersburg: the ECHR Communced the complaints of participants in the action against corruption

The European Court of Human Rights Comminized the complaints of four residents of St. Petersburg, detained in 2017 at a rally against corruption. This was announced by the Public Verdict Foundation.

Sergei Melnikov, Alexander Clubov, Nikita Samarin and Peter Nechaev complained about the conditions of detention in the police who are humiliating human dignity. They were detained without a charge for more than a day and deprived of the right to prove a violation of rights.

In June 2017, they were detained on the Marse Field, where a rally against corruption was held. About an hour and a half, young people were taken around the city, brought to the police department No. 55 in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg and held an hour and a half on the bus. The detainees were searched, photographed, selected personal belongings and put in cameras. According to the "public verdict", the cameras were dirty, stuffy, the toilet was broken. The detainees did not feed, there were no conditions for sleep.

The day after the detention, employees of the Public Supervisory Commission (PMC) came to the police department and insisted that people be transferred to other premises. The detainees were taken to the assembly hall, where they fed with cold potatoes and cutlets. From 20:00 to 11:00 p.m., the detainees were taken by parties to the court, which completed the consideration of cases by 02:00 on June 14. After that, the detainees were freed.
