Petersburg: Activists held a rally against rising fare prices

In St. Petersburg on Lenin Square near the Finland Station, about 200 people came to a rally against an increase in almost a quarter of tariffs for travel in public transport. It was organized by members of the Fair Russia, Party of Growth, activists of the movements of " Agit of Russia ", " unlimited protest ", "Left Front", " Beautiful Petersburg ".

The rally was opened by the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Maxim Reznik. He said that the fight against raising travel prices and utilities will be successful only with the change of power in the city. Reznik urged the opposition to stop disputes among themselves and unite to win the future elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and the State Duma of Russia, which will be held in 2021.

Members of the association of carriers of Russia joined the protesters, they could be immediately recognized by green vests with the symbols of the trade union. According to them, both truckers and taxi drivers have common interests, since “the current government has practically ruined them,” and now we must unite and think how to restore the destroyed.

Deputy Boris Vishnevsky said that the fare in St. Petersburg over the past five years has overtaken the total inflation 3 times. Vishnevsky was indignant at the cities of the city on power structures, with an uncontrolled increase in overhaul fees, withdrawal of subsidies from the transport sphere. The deputy called all this theft from the pocket of the townspeople and urged in the next election to destroy the monopoly of “United Russia” to power.

The police at the rally detained four activists. At first, the Avtosak was the participants of the Art Party of the Dead Maxim Evstropov, Daria Loginova and Maria Vonnova-for posters, which the police considered insulting to the authorities. They were taken to the 24th police department. Then, the editor of the Yagrazhdanin information project was detained, a supporter of the idea of an unlimited protest Sergey Belyaev, who in his speech compared Governor Alexander Beglov with the rat and his resignation.

At the end of the rally, the organizers read out a resolution with a demand to prevent rising prices for travel in public transport.
