The Prosecutor General promised new measures against corruption, which among the security forces is most sinned by the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are prosecuted for corruption crimes more often than other representatives of law enforcement agencies. As reported on the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, since the beginning of the year, more than 6.9 thousand accused have appeared before the court, most of them (752) are employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Among other accused 181, an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) and nine prosecutors.

In addition, cases against 27 employees of the UK were sent to the court. According to the official representative of the department Svetlana Petrenko, the department "promptly and harshly reacts to each fact of corruption, especially when it comes to the purity of its ranks." Criminal cases were also instituted against 84 employees of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP), 34 representatives of the Federal Customs Service (FCS), 51 employees of the Ministry of Emergencies and 476 representatives of local authorities.

In turn, the prosecutor general Yuri Chaika told Kommersant that from 2017 to September 2019, about 3 thousand law enforcement officers were convicted in Russia in Russia. According to him, during the coordination meeting of the heads of law enforcement agencies in Russia, it is planned to develop a set of additional anti-corruption measures, which will affect the struggle against "kickbacks" and returning from abroad of illegally withdrawn assets.

He recalled that last year the prosecutors received the right to initiate arrests of assets. “This solved the problem with the fact that the leaders of enterprises convicted in corruption offenses managed to hide their property and bankrupt the companies,” the Prosecutor General said, noting that with the strengthening of prosecutorial supervision, corruption crimes in Russia began to be registered more often. For nine months of this year, they were identified 4% more than in the same period last year - 26.1 thousand. The share of corruption in the overall structure of crimes is also growing - in 2017 it was at 1.4%, and from the beginning of this year it has already increased to 1.7%.

The facts of receiving bribes and bribery of officials are more often revealed, but only in large amounts, small bribery decreases. More actively than before, corruption in organized groups and criminal communities is suppressed, the Prosecutor General added.

As for administrative (non -criminal) corruption violations, most of them are associated with the illegal employment of former officials to commercial organizations. New employers "did not comply with the procedure and terms for sending notifications about their employment to their previous places of service," 13 thousand managers were fined for 535 million rubles for this.

The day before, the chairman of the UK, Alexander Bastrykin, said that about 30% among corruption crimes are occupied by bribes. According to him, in 2019, more than 2 billion rubles were recovered from corrupt officials for damages, and 12.9 billion rubles for their property for a total of 12.9 billion. The fact that only a small part of corruption is reflected in official reports was also recognized by senior officials. “The total number of such criminal acts is tens of, hundreds of times more than what is revealed. This is only the peak of the iceberg,” said the current Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who was also a defendant in anti -corruption journalistic investigations .
