
AvtoVAZ signed an agreement with General Motors on the purchase of 50% of the shares of Togliatti SP GM-Avtovaz. As a result of the transaction (its amount is not called), a joint venture will become a 100% affiliated company of AvtoVAZ, which will regain the Niva brand.
As reported in the AvtoVAZ press release , as part of the agreement, the plant belonging to the joint venture will continue to produce and sell Niva cars under the Chevrolet car, and later the car will receive the Lada nameplate. The transaction will not bring any changes for employees of both companies, and current contracts with suppliers and dealerships of NIVA will remain unchanged during the transition period. In the future, the company GM-Autons will be renamed.

Recall that in September, the GM-Autsovaz joint venture began production of Chevrolet Niva SUVs in the new budgetary configuration of SL ("Superlite"), the cost of which is from 523.8 thousand rubles. In this configuration, the car lost the front door electric windows, the central lock, heating the legs of the rear passengers and the USB-rosett. In the budget version, buyers will receive a car with isothermal glasses, headlighting corrector, salon filter, rear seats folded, adjustable steering column, ABS, driver’s airbag and ISOFIX system.
