Sentences to adolescents who have received 6.5 years per picket are upheld

In Rostov-on-Don, the court rejected the sentences to Yana Sidorov and Vladislav Mordasov, who were convicted for six and a half years on charges of preparing the riots in the city.

The lawyers of the convicts said they would appeal the decision in the Supreme Court and intend to reach the European Court of Human Rights.

Yan Sidorov and Vladislav Mordasov were detained on November 5, 2017 in Rostov-on-Don, along with another alien supporters of the artillery praising of the Nationalist Vyacheslav Maltsev, which appointed “Revolution” for the “artillery” movement in Russia. According to investigators, through a chat in a telegram, young people called for riots, and also planned attacks on police officers and the seizure of the regional government building. At that time, Sidorov was only 18 years old, Mordasov was 21 years old.

The defendants claimed that they simply went to the regional government with single pickets that day and did not plan to take part in any "revolution". Later, several witnesses stated in court that they were forced to sign the testimony under pressure and torture. The defendants themselves also complained about torture.

The human rights center "Memorial" recognized Sidorov and Mordasov by political prisoners.
