Ukraine shines the Georgian option. Results of the Summit of the "Norman Four"

The Summit of the Norman Four in Paris ended on a positive note, however, without a breakthrough on the main political and military issues of settlement in the Donbass. In a number of areas that do not affect the “red lines” of Russia and Ukraine, sufficient progress is demonstrated so that all participants in the summit, primarily its owner, French President Emmanuel Macron, are able to declare the success, positive dynamics, improved personal contacts and determination to continue diplomacy in the Norman format.

No one was interested in the meeting in Paris ended in failure. At the same time, it was especially important for the Russian side to support the efforts of President Macron, who this year switched to the “side of the forces of good” and became the main conductor of the interests of Russia in the West. Actually, the main result of the summit is an agreement to meet again in four months.

The main intrigue was whether the Russian side would go to a certain flexibility in its tough position and whether the wishes of the Minsk Agreement that were persistently sounded from Kyiv will accept the wishes from Kiev in terms of the sequence of the implementation of the key provisions of Minsk-2-for example, to transfer Kyiv control over the border with Russia before the elections in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (Ordlo) and the provision of a special for them) status. Judging by the final declaration of the summit and Putin’s statements, the position of Moscow has not changed at all and “go towards Zelensky”, make it on fundamental issues that determine the content of the final settlement (that is, who will become the winner and who is the loser) is not gathering. The Ukrainian leader is not considered as the last and best opportunity for the Kremlin to worthy to leave the game in the Donbass. Moscow is not going to leave the game at all.
