TNT will no longer air the series “Servant of the People” with Zelensky

The Russian TV channel TNT removed from television the Ukrainian series “Servant of the People,” in which the main role was played by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The first three episodes were shown on the Gazprom Media-owned channel on Wednesday, December 11. Previously, the television program indicated that the continuation of the series would air on TNT from 19.00 to 20.30 on December 12 and 13. Now at this time the series “Interns” and “SashaTanya” will be shown.

Obviously, the channel changed the program very quickly - even at 22.00 Moscow time, different replacements for “Servant of the People” were indicated in the mobile and desktop versions of the TNT website. In one it was the series “Polar” and “SashaTanya”, and in the other - “Interns” and “SashaTanya”.

A TNT representative told Vedomosti that the channel initially did not intend to air more than the first three episodes of Servant of the People. “The entire first season was originally intended to be shown only on the PREMIER platform,” he claims. A channel representative called TNT’s announcement about the daily airing of “Servant of the People” “a marketing ploy to increase awareness of the platform.” He did not answer the question why TNT decided to show the entire season of Servant of the People only on the Internet, especially since the series has been available in the Kinopoisk online cinema (owned by Yandex) since May.

According to a TNT representative, the entire season of the satirical comedy will be available in the PREMIER online cinema from December 12. On the evening of December 11, at the time of writing, there were no mentions of the series on this platform. And only after 23.00 TNT posted the series on PREMIER.

On December 11, a joke about Russian President Vladimir Putin was cut from the broadcast of the first episode of “Servant of the People” to the central regions of Russia. Moreover, in the eastern regions, where due to the time difference the premiere took place earlier, this joke was shown. According to the plot, the newly elected President of Ukraine Vasily Goloborodko, played by Zelensky, chooses an expensive watch and a suit due to his status. The Prime Minister suggests that Putin wears a watch from the Swiss brand Hublot, pronouncing its name “hublot.” Zelensky’s hero is surprised: “Is Putin a houblo?”
