The Polytechnic Museum in Moscow will be opened after reconstruction in December 2020

The updated historical building of the Polytechnic Museum on Lubyanskaya Square in Moscow is planned to be opened after many years of reconstruction on December 12, 2020. This was reported on the website of the capital's city hall.

Modernization of the building of the Polytechnic began in 2013. The work is carried out according to the concept proposed by the Japanese architect Dzyuny Isigami. To date, all the facades of the building have been restored, the amphitheater is opened in front of the northern facade, as well as the passage from the amphitheater to the metro.

The opening of the museum after reconstruction will be timed to his birthday: the Polytechnic Museum began work on December 12, 1872 in a building on Prechistenka, and soon moved to Lubyanskaya Square. At first, the Polytechnic Museum was called the Museum of Applied Knowledge, and the basis of its collection was the exhibits of the polytechnic exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Peter I.

The museum remaining before the opening of the year plans to devote measures that will allow you to get acquainted with the updated space, exposition and the concept of the new polythe. Events will be held at VDNH, in the Moscow Technopolis and Museum Park around the building on Lubyanskaya Square, as well as at other city venues.
