18-year-old American escaped from a sinking machine with siri

The American teenager, whose car flew out of the road and fell into the river, was able to call for help thanks to the voice assistant Siri, installed on his iPhone, Interfax reports citing the publication The Sun.

The incident occurred in the area of ​​the city of Mason City in Iowa. 18-year-old Gael Salsedo went to college in his jeep when his car slipped on the icy highway and flew out of the road, falling into the river. The water there was already frozen, but the car struck the ice and began to dive into the river, the newspaper writes.

Salsedo said that in a panic he could not find his iPhone in the car to call the rescuers, so he simply shouted the Siri assistant "Siri, dial 911". After that, Siri activated, made a sound signal and the teenager was able to find the phone.

Firefighters from Mason City, who quickly rescued the young man from a sinking car, came to the call to the place of emergency. Salsedo was taken to the hospital in shock and released two hours later.
