In the Moscow region, a participant in a protest against a landfill in Likino-Dulevo was interrogated in a case of deforestation

A resident of the village of Konobeevo, located near Likino-Dulyovo, where protests of local residents against the construction of a waste processing complex in the forest, has been interrogated in the deforestation case. This was reported to Novaya Gazeta by Nellya Shishova, a lawyer for the Human Rights Defenders of the Postcard, and the eco-activist himself.

“I was summoned to the investigation department in Orekhovo-Zuevo for illegal logging where a waste processing plant was to be built. The investigator told me that 50 mountain ash had been uprooted there. Where and when it was, he did not say. He didn't tell me the date [of the crime], nothing. As soon as I arrived, they began to ask me if I had heavy equipment. I said that I have a dump truck and a backhoe loader. They asked if I could uproot trees with the help of an excavator,” said the eco-activist for Novaya Gazeta.

The investigator also said that a criminal case had been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal logging of forest plantations”) and an eco-activist walks along it as a witness. In a conversation with Novaya, the man expressed fear that his status in the case could change to a suspect: “It’s just that the investigator directly grabbed the fact that I have heavy equipment, said that there were a lot of inconsistencies regarding equipment, so there will be a second time call". The eco-activist added that he had repeatedly participated in protests against the construction of a waste processing complex in the forest near Likino-Dulyovo.

It is noteworthy that the felling of trees in this forest near KPO on July 15 was carried out by workers under the control of the police. Then, clashes broke out between eco-activists who tried to prevent the felling and the police, after which the mother of three children was hospitalized - the policeman pushed her back onto a stump.

The maximum punishment for crimes under Part 1 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - imprisonment for up to two years.

Protests over the construction of a waste processing complex in the southeast of the Moscow region have been ongoing since March. Local residents fear that KPO, for which the authorities decided to cut down 36.5 hectares of forest, will turn out to be a huge dump. The construction of KPO is carried out by Charter LLC, 60% owned by the son of Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, Igor.
