Publicist Boris Stomakhin left Russia. This is reported by the publication "Mediazona" with reference to Stomakhin's interview on the YouTube channels " Narodnaya Gazeta " and " Sotnik-TV ".

Stomakhin left for the territory of Ukraine and will seek political asylum there.

• On September 19, 2019, Stomakhin was released.
• Boris Stomakhin, the former editor of Radical Politics, was sentenced three times to various terms on charges of inciting extremism and terrorism. He was first sentenced in 2006: five years in prison for incitement to extremism (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred or enmity (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) because of articles about the Chechen war.
• He was last convicted in 2015 for a seven-year term under articles on incitement to extremism (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code), incitement of hatred or enmity (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and justification of terrorism (article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Later, his term was reduced due to the partial decriminalization of Article 282.
• According to investigators, Stomakhin published a text on his blog in which he spoke positively about the 2013 terrorist attacks in Volgograd. Stomakhin himself believes that he did not call anyone to anything, but only expressed his position on the war in Chechnya and on the political situation in the country.
• In 2018, the ECHR ordered Russia to pay Stomakhin compensation of 12.5 thousand euros due to the disproportionate punishment in his first criminal case. Two more cases are pending before the ECtHR.
