Police released St. Petersburg residents detained after a girl's story about a homophobic attack

The police released the young people detained on suspicion of attacking 18-year-old St. Petersburg resident Ekaterina Lysykh, whose friend called homophobia the cause of the conflict. this TASS reports with reference to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency's interlocutor, one suspect was released on his own recognizance, and two more on an obligation to appear.

The attack took place on December 9 in the center of St. Petersburg. As a friend of the Lysykhs said, seven young men approached their company and began to insult them with the words “Are you lesbians?” The girls tried to hide in the coffee shop, but they ran into the establishment and ended up hitting the Balds twice. The victim was diagnosed with a concussion.

Three days later, the police announced the arrest of three young people in the case of intentionally causing harm to health of moderate severity (Article 112 of the Criminal Code). Among those detained were a seventh-grader and two St. Petersburg residents aged 16 and 19 years.
