The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow fined Yan Rachinsky, Chairman of the Board of International Memorial, 100 thousand rubles under the law on foreign agents (part 2 of article 19. 34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the lack of a foreign agent marking in the Vkontakte group “1968. Year of Human Rights. Yulia Orlova, press secretary of Memorial HRC, reports this.
Representatives of Memorial insist that all the resources of the organization are properly marked, and also specify that “the marking “foreign agent” is humiliating and contradicts the essence of the activities of the International Memorial. Memorial is no one’s agent, its function is to preserve the memory of the repressions of the Soviet period.”
