The judge of the Zheleznovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory, Mukharyam Samatov, sentenced Zelimkhan Tomov, a participant in protests against changing the borders of Ingushetia, to 17 months in a colony-settlement. This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to Tomov's lawyer Aslan Archakov.
The man was found guilty under the article on the threat of violence against the security forces (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, Tomov threw a stone at law enforcement officers at a rally in Magas, but did not hit anyone, because the National Guard officer evaded.
The activist pleaded guilty, and the criminal case was considered in a special order. Lawyer Archakov noted that, taking into account the recount of days in the pre-trial detention center, Tomov will be released on December 25, 2019.
Zelimkhan Tomov has been in detention since April 9, 2019. In August 2019, the charge was reclassified to a less serious article about the threat of using non-hazardous violence against the National Guard. Previously, he was accused under the article on the use of violence dangerous to health against a security official (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).

Ramazan Gagiev On December 12, the court sentenced to 4 months in a colony-settlement on charges of hitting the shield of a Russian guard with his foot (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). On December 13, Seit-Magomed Nalgiev was sentenced to one year and four months in a colony-settlement: he allegedly snatched a rubber baton from a Russian guard and crushed him with a metal barricade. Both criminal cases were considered in a special order.
- In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia. On March 26, about 10,000 people came out to a rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
- The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). In it, according to the Human Rights Center "Memorial", at least 35 defendants, at least 29 defendants are in custody.
