Rambler achieved the content of Match TV content

Rambler has achieved a temporary blocking of content related to the English football Premier League (Premier League) on the Match TV website. Such a definition was issued on December 10 by the Moscow City Court. It should be fulfilled by Roskomnadzor.

What's happened

On December 16, it became known that Rambler filed a lawsuit in the Moscow City Court demanding to block the pirate broadcasts of the nuclear submarine matches on the largest streaming service Twitch (owned by Amazon). But the Rambler has claims to other sites.

Rambler filed a similar statement against Matchtv.ru. And the court has already issued a ruling on preliminary blocking - for 15 days. During this time, Rambler should apply to the court with a lawsuit.

What kind of content are we talking about. The court ruling refers to the “direct broadcasts of football matches of clubs in the English football Premier League in the 2019/20 season, 2020/21, 2021/22”. At the moment, there are no complete versions or even fragments of the Premier League matches on the Match TV website. The Bell turned to Rambler and Match TV for comments.

Rambler also achieved broadcasting on several pirate sites: Footballhgs.com, Reallook.ru, Sporttranslit.ru, Live Ball.ru, Gohafilm.ru.

What is important to know

Rambler bought the rights to show three seasons of the Premier League for its online cinema OKKO in 2019. The amount of the contract was not disclosed. According to Kommersant, we are talking about 7 million euros per season. Earlier, the Premier League had the “Match TV”.

Match TV also has claims to Rambler. In November, the Moscow City Court ordered the Championat.com website to delete 21 videos with fragments of broadcasts of the Russian Football Championship, the rights to show which belong to Match TV. The television channel did not require monetary compensation.

Rambler against Twitch

On Twitch, Rambler counted 36 thousand illegal broadcasts and requires compensation from the service in the amount of 180 billion rubles.

The representative of Twitch in the court, Julianna Tabastaeva, said that Rambler not only demands to pay him compensation, but also achieves Twitch blocking in Russia. According to her, the company's requirements were constantly changing: at first, Rambler sought broadcasting broadcasts, then added compensation in the amount of 147 million rubles, then increased the amount to 180 billion.
