Another fine for Human Rights Center “Memorial” under the law on foreign agents. The group on VKontakte allegedly has no markings

Judge Krivoruchko of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow once again fined Alexander Cherkasov, Chairman of the Board of the Memorial Human Rights Center, 100 thousand rubles under the law on foreign agents (part 2 of article 19. 34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the alleged absence of the “foreign agent” marking in the HRC group Vkontakte . Yulia Orlova, press secretary of Memorial HRC, reports this.

Representatives of Memorial insist that all the resources of the organization are properly marked, and also specify that “the marking “foreign agent” is humiliating and contradicts the essence of the activities of the International Memorial. Memorial is no one’s agent, its function is to preserve the memory of the repressions of the Soviet period.”

• This is the 17th considered protocol out of 28 issued by the HRC "Memorial", "International Memorial" and their leaders. The total amount of fines reached 3.1 million rubles.
• The organization has launched a collection of donations to pay fines under the article on foreign agents.
• A day earlier, the same court fined Yan Rachinsky, chairman of the board of International Memorial, 100,000 rubles for "lack of marking" in the VKontakte group " 1968. The Year of Human Rights ."
