The editor-in-chief of BlogSochi, Alexander Valov, who was sentenced to six years in prison, was placed in a punishment cell. This was reported by the lawyer Michial Benyash in his telegram channel.
According to him, Valov was placed in a ShIZO not because of a violation of internal regulations, but because of some “operational necessity”.
Alexander Valov is serving a sentence in IK-14 of the city of Angarsk, Irkutsk Region.
- Valov was found guilty of extorting 300 thousand rubles from the State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party Yuri Napso in exchange for removing from the portal an article that the deputy owns a swimming pool on a public beach in Sochi. The verdict of the Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi was issued on December 26, 2018.
- In August 2018 , it became known that the FSB was tapping Valov's phone and reading his mail. Valov's defense found the corresponding permission of the court in the materials of the criminal case. The court decision allowing the FSB to wiretap Valov says that the journalist is a participant in protest actions and that his public statements contain signs of calls for extremist activity.
