Here was the text “Like I am in a stroller”, which the anonymous reader sent to the editor.
The material spoke about the life of a person with a disabilities who got drunk behind the wheel, lost his feet, his former life, friends and acquaintances and was left alone with the understanding that he was to blame for everything. The hero described life when you could not leave the house, talked about the attempts of suicide, relations with his family and his thoughts about how he wanted to get out of humanity, which does not pay attention to him.
We shot this text because it turned out that the story was invented. Some inconsistencies indicated in the comments, and then the author himself confessed.
The same story is the section of Samizdat, which gives a voice to the reader. We are sure that each person has his own story and, if you tell it, the world will become a little clearer, and it will be possible to look at different phenomena and global processes with the unexpected side of the eyes of a particular person.
We talked about the adventures of the dreamer-refractor, a fighter without rules, a former porn actress and other stories. Over the seven years of the existence of samizdat, more than three hundred personal stories have been published on the site - sad, terrible and funny.
We try to publish all materials under real names, but sometimes the authors want to maintain anonymity. Then we go to meet them and try to check the information even more meticulous. The text based on someone’s memoirs can often contain mistakes and distortions: over time, the details are forgotten, and in our stories we often want to look better. This is a natural condition that the reader means, getting acquainted with the history of the first person. But we understand that an anonymous material is always more critical.
While working with the same story, editors always try to ask the author all possible questions in order to find inaccuracies and inconsistencies. Nevertheless, this time we made a mistake. The author did not send clarifications and answers to questions on time, and then completely stopped in touch, but we still edited the text, reducing the most dubious moments, and published it on our website. The material caused an emotional response among readers, people tried to contact the author, find his contacts, asked to convey the words of support. This story hooked many: someone expressed sympathy for the heroes, and someone, on the contrary, entered into a polemic with them.
We are very sorry that the readers were deceived. We apologize.
The illustrations of Valery Zarytovsky are not guilty of anything and will remain to live on this page. The true story of a person’s life with disabilities can be read in those very stories of Leonid Titarenko: “ How I woke up in a wheelchair ” and “ How shamans and fortunetellers tried to put me on my feet .”
